Apple is expected to soon launch iPhone 8 and iPhone X in Indonesia. This is indicated by the development of licensing process for both types of smartphones that are being made in the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).
Certainty about the licensing is submitted by the Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation and Electronics Industries I Gusti Putu Suryawirawan when contacted by KompasTekno, Thursday (12/10/2017).
“Currently, PT Apple Indonesia is taking care of Domestic Content Level (TKDN) for those types (iPhone 8 and iPhone X), according to Permenperin No. 29 of 2016,” said the man who is familiarly called Putu to KompasTekno via message service short.
“The certificate is expected to be published in the near future,” he added.
TKDN certificate from Kemenperin is one of the requirements required for Apple to be legitimately selling iPhone 8 and iPhone X in Indonesia.
Although already almost meet one requirement, iPhone 8 and iPhone X seems to be coming in the next few months. Apple still have to take care of several more certifications before being allowed to sell the two devices officially in the country.
Apple still has to test the device in the test hall of Directorate General of Resources and Equipment of Post and Telematics (DG of SDPPI). Furthermore, new Apple can take care of permissions to enter or import iPhone 8 and iPhone X to Indonesia.
iPhone X, Apple’s highest-class smartphone, is equipped with a front-facing design with barely a bezel, Face ID or facial scan sensor features to unlock, an OLED display capable of displaying HDR modes, and a camera with portrait mode and animoji.
